Welcome to 1520 Arts!

Welcome to 1520 Arts ( formerly  THE HERC )!  For those who don’t know, 1520 Arts is the parent organization for The HERC.  We are a non-profit that champions non-traditional artists and The HERC has been one of our programs for the last 9 years.  The decision to change the building name is done in an effort to make everything a bit easier to understand.  Much of the facility and it’s programs will stay the same, but we are excited to bring some new things to the building.  Be on the look out for a new website and lots of fun things this year!

The HERC is a facility dedicated to Hip Hop arts, created in an effort to provide high quality Hip Hop arts education to the community. The HERC is owned and operated by 1520 ARTS and serves as its headquarters.  Named after the father of Hip Hop (DJ KOOL HERC), The HERC is dedicated to all the pioneers and icons that helped create one of the most unique subcultures on the planet.  Click the button learn more about how you can help support the HERC and its programs.
